As stated above VW advise 80k miles for the 7 speed DQ381 DSG. However a few places like AwesomeGTI and FCPEuro recommend continuing with the 40k mile service interval, which I have also done, IIRC mine was done at 33k miles. For the cost of a DSG service it simply adds a level of insurance against failure.

rix337. For the first 120k, you will change the rear brake pads twice, and oil changes every 10k, and fuel filters every 20k. If you do your own oil changes, fuel filters, and pads, that's not much in maintenance at all. At 120k, you will need the timing belt, and that, if done right, is $1200-1400. What Peylix said. As for myself, if you get a DSG, make DAMN SURE there were DSG service intervals every 40k (my regret), or else your wallet and stress will be killing you. I am happy with my FSI engine ('05-'08), just make sure the cam follower was done and it had the timing belt taken care of.

For stg 1 my tuner recommends oil every 5-8k and plugs every 10-15k (preferred close to 10, with as well buying the upgraded plugs vs stock). Apr coil packs recommended but not a necessity right away. You'll lose only a few mpg overall on stg 1 but the hp boost is worth in my opinion.
No matter which engine the Golf VI has, the recommended service schedule is the same, though there are two distinct regimes. The first is called ‘fixed interval servicing’ and is for cars without service indicators. For those, there should be an ‘oil service’ at least every 15,000 kilometres or every year (whichever comes first); an
